WORLD PREMIERE: The End Of The Earth Is My Home (IRL, 2012)
SAT 25 AUG 11.00
SCI-FI/THRILLER/VFX
At an airport on the island of Hai-Wan, a young boy witnesses a failed assassination attempt. The assassin, a young woman called Mei, abducts the boy and brings him to her superior, the Metal Dragon. The Metal Dragon is the last of an old order of immortals living secretly in Hai-Wan. He resides on the top floor of the Gold Hotel, from where, via 'all-seeing' security surveillance, he presides over the four dragons of the island's districts. These dragons are mortal men
Despite Mei's objections the Metal Dragon imparts the secret of long life to the boy before banishing him onto the streets of Hai-Wan. Lost and in a strange new world, the boy wanders the island and descends into a maze of disused tunnels beneath the island's subway network, where he makes his home. There he has all the time in the world to observe life in the city above and he forges his plan to usurp the dragon that cursed him. In the meantime the mortal assassin Mei has taken pity on the boy and urges the Metal Dragon to invite him back to the Gold Hotel. Mei finds the boy, but unknown to her he has already written her into his plans. He determines to find out if she, like him, can survive death.
