Our very special guests Anna Higgs, Hugh Garry, Philo van Kemenade, Giles Pradeau, Eoin Kennedy, Claire McHugh, and BlockT resident artist Sven Anderson will put their heads together and discuss the outcomes from the morning's symposium, looking at how the future is shaping up for storytellers in this multi-screen, networked landscape.
Facilitators' Biographies:
Anna Higgs
Higgs is a creative producer, entrepreneur and commissioner with a background in the world of BAFTA-award winning interactive ‘edutainment’. In 2011 she was appointed to head up Film4's groundbreaking new digital banner, Film4.0 after a 12-year career involved in the production of a wide range of games and digital media projects for global brands as diverse as Sony and Sainsbury's. In this role she identifies new talent, developing innovative new productions with emerging and established talent alike, and finding new ways to connect with audiences.
Hugh Garry
Garry is a Creative Digital Strategist and Media Consultant working with Storythings.com in the United Kingdom on projects to help brands and media organisation develop new ways of telling stories.
Giles Pradeau
Pradeau explores participatory documentary focusing on democratic innovations and public spendings in Europe. The first chapter of “Learning to count” uses a 360º camera to record teenagers negociating the budget for their highschool. Before making his own films, Gilles provided consultancy and workshops for public engagement and worked in Paris for a mobile film festival.
Philo van Kemenade
Kemenade is a creative technologist based in London, who uses technology to support people in telling engaging stories. His background in Artificial Intelligence and passion for filmmaking got him interested in the potential of the web as a platform for interactive storytelling. He believes we are currently lacking an interactive storytelling language that fits the nature of the web and sees multipdisciplinary experimentation as the way forward.
Eoin Kennedy
Kennedy is a freelance communications consultant and entrepreneur living in the west of Ireland. In October he organised a social media ‘unconference’ called www.congregation.ie which brought 50 experts to the small village of Cong to tell their social media stories. Eoin was most recently the co-founder of two internet start ups and has over 18 years experience in the public relations industry. He is the chair of the Irish Internet Association Social Media Working Group and is a lecturer for the Irish Times and the Digital Marketing Institute. Eoin was a director of the Irish Internet Association for six years, is a graduate member of the PRII and MII, a judge of the Irish Blog Awards and the IIA Net Visionary Awards and a member of the communications committee of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. In a previous life he was a secondary school teacher teaching in China and Spain.
Claire McHugh
McHugh is the CEO and Co-Founder of Axonista, an Irish award-winning provider of social TV and second screen technology. Axonista’s international client list includes ESPN, MTV Networks, SPI, Setanta Sports, RTÉ and TV3. Axonista’s digital storytelling toolkit Ediflo allows content producers to easily create and manage interactive audience experiences across a variety of platforms. Last year Axonista partnered with Ireland’s largest commercial broadcaster, TV3 to launch ShowPal, a synced second screen iPad app for enhancing TV3's primetime viewing experience. Before founding Axonista, Claire was part of the team that established the Setanta Sports channels in Ireland and the UK. She is very excited about getting technology into the hands of creative storytellers, and the many new ways in which stories can be told!
Sven Anderson
Anderson is an artist working between Ireland and the US since 2001. Anderson's work explores the act of listening within diverse architectural, physical, social, and emotional contexts. His practice is a discursive platform that operates through artistic intervention, academic publication, participatory processes, and interactive design.
