An online collective of indie animators have joined forces to present themselves and their work created in the dead of night. This edition will feature Conor Finnegan, the animator behind delightful, mixed-process work 'Fear of Flying,' and BAFTA-nominated Eamonn O’Neill.
A whole bunch of animators gather around the campfire to tell their tales of ghosts and the ghostly. Tales to shock, amuse, and frighten! Tales to make you laugh, cry and scream! Stuff we made up! Who knows what lurks in the witching hour? It turns out that we do, and soon you will too. Featuring new work from some of the finest animators making their own stuff today, including award winners, cult faves, up-and-comers, folks you already know and folks you should know. What inspired the creation of The Late Night Work Club?
A lot of us would be up late at night working on things and bump into one another on twitter because it’s nice to have a colleague to talk to at 3:30 AM when you’re working on a completely non-paying project and wondering what you’ve done with your life. So that’s where the name came from. Charles Huettner, Eimhin Mcnamara, Eamonn Oneill and myself starting chatting that way, and it was out of those discussions that the formal idea for LNWC came about.
Re: 'Fear of Flying' by Conor Finnegan
Every once in a while a special film comes along that makes you realise why you love animation so much. Conor Finnegan’s short film Fear of Flying is undoubtedly one of these films. The story follows a lonely bird with a fear of (you guessed it!) flying preparing for another cold Winter alone. Yet when disaster strikes he is left with no choice but face up to his fear and relocate South like the others of his species. But will he be able to overcome his fear? And would this be enough to win over the object of his affection?
