How was Darklight 2014 for you? We are looking back on our experiences at Darklight Festival of Independent Creativity in April 2014 to make sure 2015 is an even better experience for our audience.

You and your friends can help us find out what worked well at the festival this year and what could be improved upon by telling us what you thought about this year’s events.

To help launch Darklight’s reboot, we have challenged some of Darklight’s alumni to re-imagine, remix and reboot an iconic film scene of their choice, into a 6-second clip.  The result is a collage of invention that truly reflects the festival’s long-standing reputation for formal and expressive creativity.

To submit your original animated GIF for consideration in this competition, please send the file as an attachment to gifted.reboot@gmail.com  with the subject line ‘GIFted’.   Please include your name, short biography and country of residence with this submission.  If your GIF is too large to send via email, please send viawetransfer.com or yousendit.com.  The submitted GIF must be your own creation.

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday 12 March, 6pm.

Shortlisted GIFs will be screened at Darklight Festival 24 – 27 April 2014.

Bord Scannán na hÉireann/The Irish Film Board (IFB) has been supporting Irish stories on film for twenty years. As part of its continuing anniversary celebrations, the IFB launched a three-minute trailer, which you can watch here:

EARTHBOUND the movie, in association with Movies@ and SGC Cinemas and Darklight Festival is running a competition to design a Poster for the Irish Comedy Sci-Fi movie EARTHBOUND starring Rafe Spall, Jenn Murray and David Morrissey.

Simply use your creative talents to design a poster for the movie and you could win 4 cinema tickets for the opening weekend on Saturday 16th March, have your poster displayed in Movies@Dundrum cinema, meet the writer/director Alan Brennan and have your photo taken with him.
