DARKLIGHT ♥’S The Outer Church

The Outer Church, a Brighton-based audiovisual event, presents a night of uncanny sound and vision taking place on Saturday August 25 at Subground 43 in Dublin.

Recent Ghost Box signing Pye Corner Audio (creator of the acclaimed Black Mill Tapes series) will be joined by Belfast’s finest purveyor of bleak arboreal drone and imaginary soundtracks Black Mountain Transmitter (whose new album Playing With Dead Things will be released this Halloween by Auris Apothecary) and Brighton’s ‘slurtronic’ specialist Kemper Norton (whose new EP for the Front & Follow label is set for release later this year). All three artists draw on elements of folklore, Weird Fiction, TV and cinema in their own distinctive yet complementary ways.

In addition, there will be a special screening of US filmmaker Graham Reznick’s psychedelic campfire tale I Can See You which, according to The New York Times, “heralds a splendid new filmmaker with one eye on genre mechanics, one eye on avant-garde conceits and a third eye for transcendental weirdness.” Reznick is the sound designer of choice for director Ti West (The House Of The Devil, The Innkeepers) and he brings a uniquely dreamlike, surreal sensibility to the backwoods horror subgenre.

The audio and visual components of this programme have been carefully assembled with the intention of creating an immersive and atmospheric experience.

Darklight  ♥’S Dubliners: A Multimedia Exhibition

Little Cloud Media, in association with the National Library of Ireland, Darklight Festival and Dublin City University, are excited to announce the opening of

 The exhibition opens at 1pm on August 25th at the National Library of Ireland and will run until August 27th.

“Inspired by James Joyce’s short story collection ‘Dubliners’, the exhibition employs a variety of different media to explore and interpret a selection of the stories, which continue to resonate with readers around the world almost a century after their original publication.

In keeping with the stories’ progression from the youthful exuberance of childhood through to the sage realisations of old age, the exhibits focusing on the earlier stories incorporate a more colourful and imaginative approach, with a shift towards a more analytical and critical approach for later stories.”

Little Cloud Media is made up of Steven Battle, Joey Kavanagh, Paul Power & Rebecca Saunders, students of the Masters in Multimedia course at Dublin City University. They have undertaken this exhibition as part of their final project.
