THE DARKLIGHT TOUR

Darklight’s 2012 Tour is a national tour celebrating the best of Irish animation, DIY and artist filmmaking, celebrating local filmmakers and national talents. We will be hosting exciting day-long events across the country for filmmakers and film lovers alike.

 SLIGO, SATURDAY 4th AUGUST

The Model Arts Centre and Darklight Film Festival are teaming up to hold a day-long event in Sligo.
Local production companies and industry professionals will be giving workshops on topics such as financing your film and community filmmaking. There will be also be Show & Tell workshops from local filmmakers and screenings including the Best of The Northwest and entertainment until late!

 BIRR, WEDNESDAY 8TH AUGUST

On the 8th of August, we will be teaming up with local film festival, OFFline for another exciting event.
Expect…

  • - Filmmaking workshops & discussions of the ins and outs of film production with local filmmakers including Stitch Films, Paddy Slattery, Gareth Daly and Nicky Larkin.
  • - Discussion on How to Fund your Film including the Dos and Don’ts of crowd-funding, and how to work in the world of more traditional funding methods.
  • - Screenings of the best of Ireland & the best of Offaly curated by Darklight & Offline Film Festival.
  • - The day will wind down in the Chestnut with live performance from New Jackson, film screening and DJs.

KILKENNY, SAT 18TH AUGUST

In Kilkenny we are teaming up with local heroes Cartoon Saloon to present a day & evening event celebrating the best of local and national filmmaking talents. Whether you’re a filmmaker or animator, aspiring or graduate, you can look forward to…

  • - Filmmaking workshops, panel discussions, and ‘Show and Tell’ discussions of the ins and outs of film production.
  • - Local filmmakers, Animators, along side National and International guests.
  • - Screenings of work from Kilkenny and across Ireland curated by Cartoon Saloon and the Darklight Festival.
  • - A very special party to round out the day with very special musical guests.
